If you have ever dreamed of taking to the gridiron as a member of Georgetown’s football team, you now have a shot at greatness. In an unusual announcement this afternoon, the Hoyas said that they will conduct open tryouts for placekickers on Aug. 30 to “add depth at the position.”
Brett Weiss, one of the best placekickers in Hoyas history, graduated in May. He connected on 16 of 22 field goals and 31 of 34 PAT attempts last season and earned second team all-Patriot League honors at the end of the campaign.
The Blue and Gray had only one other placekicker on the roster last season, rising junior Devon Papandrew. Although he practiced with Weiss for the past two seasons, Papandrew has never kicked either a field goal or a PAT for Georgetown.

The Georgetown University football team will be holding open tryouts for placekickers on Thursday, August 30 beginning at 4 p.m. Tryouts will be held at Multi-Sport Field, as the Hoyas coaching staff is looking to add depth at the position.
