Baseball
Georgetown’s baseball team (22-15, 5-7 Big East) travels to Louisville this weekend for a key Big East matchup. Last weekend, the Blue and Gray dropped two of three at Seton Hall, so this series is important if the Hoyas hope to turn around their recent road struggles. Against the Pirates, GU gave up 20 runs in just two games, but five innings of scoreless pitching from freshman Matt Smith on Sunday helped the team avoid a sweep. Look for junior right fielder Christian Venditti and senior center fielder Justin Leeson to step up at the plate this weekend as the team tries supply some much-needed offense.
Softball
Georgetown’s softball team (19-28, 8-8 Big East) will accompany the baseball team to Kentucky this weekend as they look to move above .500 in the conference against softball powerhouse Louisville. Despite solid run production and strong pitching, the Hoyas won only one of its games last weekend at Big East opponent Providence, so a series win this weekend would give the Hoyas a huge momentum boost with the conference tournament nearing.
